EUROPE'S BEST BAKERIES

It's an honour to be included in Sarah Guy's newly published Europe's Best Bakeries and we're very grateful for the recognition. Rather than waffle on ourselves though, we'll let the book speak for itself - here an excerpt from our page:

'...The cakes deserve a special mention. The jury's still out on whether the glorious, gooey-centred treacle and pecan sponge tart, with its crisp and buttery pastry base, tops the heavenly white chocolate and raspberry one, in which the rich pale ganache goes beautifully with the slightly sharp raspberry jam (made in-house). Just don't expect a donut: the closest you'll get is the pink neon 'Donut Repair' sign created by David Shrigley - Cottonrake's nod to Glasgow's arty heart.'

UK COFFEE WEEK

30.04.2019

We are happy to announce that we are participating in UK Coffee Week for the second year in a row, one week  around April/May during which coffee shops nationwide celebrate coffee and raise money for Project Waterfall, an initiative bringing clean water, education and sanitation to coffee-growing communities around the world. This year we've decided not only to donate proceeds from every cup of coffee we serve, but also feature our coffee-flavoured gateau opera and give back with each delicious slice sold too!

CHARITEA: MATE TEA

In preparation for (hopefully) warmer months, we have given our drinks fridge here at Cottonrake a total overhaul, steering away from large corporations and instead supporting smaller independents from Scotland, Britain and the rest of Europe who are approaching their craft with quality, sustainability and strong ethics in first place. A great example being ChariTea, a company not only creating seriously stimulating iced tea using nothing but organic and fair-trade ingredients, but also giving back to tea-growing communities with each bottle sold, hence the punny name.

MUHAMMARA

As the demand for delicious vegan food continues to increase and we strive to keep up with our customer's dietary wishes and needs, we are now introducing a vegan baguette option as a staple in our daily lunch offering. We're kicking the menu off with a fresh tomato and courgette salad combined with the warm, exotic flavour of Muhammara, a traditionally Syrian paste made in house using red peppers and walnuts. At Cottonrake we always strive to provide the best standard of British and European flavours, whilst simultaneously helping you explore flavours and ingredient combinations from around the world. Enjoy!
